Pachai is a Chennai home conceived as an homage to the clients’ cherished collection of antiques and memorabilia. Each space is carefully curated to foreground these collectibles while providing a striking yet restrained backdrop, with flooring emerging as the key design element. To preserve the existing structure, micro-concrete was chosen for the floors, offering continuity and subtle texture. Motifs inspired by traditional kolams and silk saree borders draw from the clients’ heritage and cultural roots. Soft fabric inlays within custom wardrobes, paired with brass accents and teakwood finishes, lend warmth and tactility. Together, these elements create a calm, intimate retreat—an oasis of comfort and character amid the city’s constant bustle.
